"Annual Events are landmarks, sort of like a boss-level challenge in a year long writing journey. "

- The Admin.

Annual Challenges at the Ink & Quill Collective are more than just dates on our calendar.  They test your consistency, perseverance and strategy, and are aligned to meet your seasonal writing goals. In 2024, our April Poetry Writing Challenge, September Submission Madness and November Writing Challenge stood out as the most productive ventures for our members and we entered 2025 with a unique Time Capsule initiative to safeguard those start-of-the-year resolutions.

April Poetry Writing Challenge

April is the month IQC focuses on the enchanting world of poetry. The challenge is writing a poem everyday for a month. Poets use their own creative devices to find inspiration or rely on the prompts provided by the admins. Whether a member is a beginner or a seasoned poet, everyone is invited to try their hand at poetry. Finally,  as a celebratory wrap-up, we meet together over an evening of an Open Mic session in the first week of May. In 2024, IQC saw a stunning count of 82 poems.

September Submission Madness

Based on our success with Weekly Peer Review, we decided to launch a special edition of WPR in September — a major month for literary submissions. The September Submission Madness was curated to help our members prepare their submissions for different open calls.  For our first season, we received registrations from 12 authors and 17 beta readers. The challenge — authors had to work through 3 cycles of feedback and subsequent edits but within a given deadline.  Only 5 authors persisted till the 3rd cycle at the end of the month. Watch them discuss about their journey here.

November Writing Challenge

Drawing inspiration from the global phenomenon NaNoWriMo, IQC's November Writing Challenge was a month long target to write 50000 words either individually or as a team of three. Our first edition saw registration of 47 members. By the end of the month, 3 incredible champions completed the challenge, while others pushed their word counts to their personal bests and earned badges at different landmarks on the way.

2025 Time Capsule

At IQC we don't just make new-year resolutions, but we make sure our members stick to it too ! The Time Capsule initiative began on January 2025 to kick start good habits for the year. 52 members locked their resolutions under 3 different categories — Writing, Health & Time Management, and a personal message to their future self inside IQC's secret vault. Time Capsule is a year long initiative where registered members have been provided with a kit containing IQC 2025 Planner, an option for mid year accountability and counselling to help them with their goals. The vault will be unlocked on  December 2025.
