The Stone And Flesh
Sunil Kumar
The Stone and the Flesh is inspired by my trip to Hampi in 2020. Walking in the ruins of what was at the time one of the biggest cities on the planet, I met a very warm Italian who greeted me cordially. Other inspirational elements include Al Pacino from the Godfather and Scarface. Italian classmates in London, and an Irishman who became a friend in Jaipur many years ago. A photographer and a jovial human being. POV is First person. Elements of noir, suspense, mystery and hopefully a spiritual vibe apart from the erotic overtones.

Sunil Kumar
Sunil Kumar comes from a life stitched together by ships, classrooms, airports, bus stops, as well as railway platforms, and an unreasonable number of books. Growing up in Bombay before it became Mumbai, he learned early that cities have memories, gods have a devious sense of humour, and people rarely say what they mean—but always reveal it anyway.
His writing spans fiction, memoir, and speculative thought, exploring themes of love, loss, myth, time, and the quiet violence of everyday life. He is interested in a passing stranger as he is in ancient ideas, and he enjoys placing them in the same frame to see what intrigues and what survives.
He writes not to explain the world, but to sit with its contradictions seriously, playfully, and sometimes dangerously close to the truth. If a piece lingers after you’ve finished reading it, he considers that a successful conversation and love’s labour consummated.
